Definition

What is an interactive wall?

An interactive wall is a large display — an LED wall, a projection surface or a large-format touchscreen — connected to sensors that let people control what appears on it in real time. Instead of playing a fixed video, the screen responds to body movement, hand gestures, touch, smartphones or physical objects.

In Malaysia, interactive walls are used most often for brand activations, exhibition booths, shopping mall roadshows, flagship retail and corporate events. A typical installation uses a 3–8 metre LED wall, a tracking camera or sensor, and software that renders the experience live. Setup takes one to two days, and depending on the interaction method an experience can support anything from a single player to thirty simultaneous participants.

Interaction Methods

Six ways people can control the screen

Move

A camera tracks the body and drives the content in real time.

4–8m LED · 1–2 players

Touch

Multi-touch film or a LiDAR overlay on the surface itself.

2–5m touch wall · 1–4 players

Scan

Guests scan a QR code and their phone becomes the controller. No app to install.

4–8m LED · up to 10+ players

Play

Physical sensors read impact, force or position — balls, buttons, boards.

Any screen · 1–6 players

Gesture

Hand tracking with no contact required — hygienic and queue-free.

3–6m LED · 1–2 players

Create

A tracked physical controller, such as a spray can or stylus.

5m+ LED · 1–2 players

Logistics

What we need from you

Space

Motion and gesture experiences need 3–4 metres of clear floor in front of the screen. Touch and phone-controlled experiences need almost none.

Setup time

One to two days on site, depending on the sensor rig. We need access to the screen before the event to calibrate against the actual surface.

The screen

An LED wall, projection surface or large-format display, supplied by you or your event contractor. We confirm resolution and pixel pitch suit the experience before quoting.

Power and network

Standard event power. No internet is needed for most experiences; phone multiplayer needs a local network, which we can supply.

FAQ

Questions brand and agency teams ask

An interactive wall is a large display connected to sensors that let people control what appears on it in real time. Instead of playing a fixed video, the screen responds to body movement, gestures, touch, smartphones or physical objects. Most installations in Malaysia use a 3–8 metre LED wall or a projection surface.

You add a sensor layer and experience software to the screen you already have. We install a tracking camera or sensor rig in front of the wall, calibrate it against your actual surface, and run the experience from our own hardware feeding your screen. The wall itself does not need to be modified, and we can work with most LED walls supplied by event contractors.

Interactive wall experiences in Malaysia start from RM 18,000 for a single-day activation. That covers the experience software licensed for the event, the sensor and tracking rig, on-site setup and teardown, a trained operator, and your branding applied to the experience interface. The LED wall itself is not included. Price rises with the number of event days, whether the experience is custom-developed rather than adapted from an existing module, the screen size and the number of simultaneous players.

You supply it, usually through your event or exhibition contractor, and our pricing assumes that. If you do not have a screen we can quote one separately. We check that your resolution and pixel pitch suit the experience before confirming.

Between one and thirty, depending on the interaction method. Motion and gesture experiences usually support one or two players at a time. Touch walls support up to four. Phone-controlled multiplayer supports ten or more simultaneous players, and crowd experiences where the whole audience participates can scale past thirty.

Motion and gesture experiences need 3–4 metres of clear floor so the tracking camera can see the full body. Touch experiences need almost no clearance. Phone-controlled multiplayer needs only enough room for the crowd to stand and see the screen.

One to two days on site. Most of that is calibrating the sensor rig against your actual screen, which can only be done once the wall is built. We need access before the event opens.

An LED wall is brighter, works in daylight and suits exhibitions, malls and retail. Projection is cheaper at large scale, can cover irregular surfaces including floors and curved walls, and suits museums, immersive rooms and permanent installations, but needs controlled lighting. The interaction technology is the same either way.

Yes. Guests scan a QR code on the screen, their phone opens a browser-based controller with no app to install, and they join the game on the big screen. We have run this with ten or more simultaneous players sharing one wall.

Yes. Your branding is applied to the experience interface as standard at RM 18,000. Deeper custom art direction, bespoke characters and fully custom-built experiences are quoted on top.
