A theme sets the dress code and the décor. The activity you pair with it is what guests remember, and what they post the next morning. Below are eight annual dinner theme ideas for Malaysian companies, each matched with an interactive activity we have run at a real event, and what happened on the night.
Maybank's Group Awards Night 2025 went with a "Viva La Cuba" theme: a Havana street scene on the backdrop, warm colours and a classic car. Beside it stood our Unveil Glass Booth, signed as the "Glassy Video Booth". Guests drew and signed on an illuminated glass pane with fluorescent markers while a camera recorded them, and the clips played back on the LED screen with animated frames in the event's look.

Result: 396 videos over a six-hour event, each shared by QR code.
Why it suits the theme: glowing ink on glass reads like neon signage, so it fits any night-time city theme, from Havana to Las Vegas.
For its Year End Party 2026 at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur, HAYS ran two booths side by side. An Instabooth 2.0, wrapped in pink disco sequins with a vinyl-record logo, printed photos on the spot. Next to it, an Unveil Glass Booth recorded guests drawing on glass, and those videos ran as a live slideshow on the LED wall, so the whole room could watch the night fill up.

Result: 478 printed photos and 106 glass booth videos. See the HAYS Year End Party project.
Why it suits the theme: a retro party wants a souvenir and a bit of spectacle. The prints cover the first, the shared screen covers the second.
A Great Gatsby or headline-news theme pairs naturally with newspaper-style prints. At the AIA Digital Annual Dinner, our newspaper photo booth printed each guest's photo as a branded A4 front page.

Result: 140 printed pages at a single dinner. See the AIA Digital Annual Dinner project.
Why it suits the theme: the print is laid out like a newspaper front page, so the keepsake carries the theme without extra props.
KWAP's employee appreciation event turned the garden idea into something staff built together. At iPad stations, each person coloured a flower or plant and added a message, and every contribution appeared on a shared LED display that kept growing through the event, with an ambient soundscape and lighting around it.

Result: 294 people took part over eight hours. See the KWAP project, or read how the digital garden worked.
Why it suits the theme: appreciation nights are about the people in the room, and a wall that fills up with their own messages keeps the focus on them.
At Maybank's Tiger Summit, guests stepped into a small studio booth and sang a Maybank song with the lyrics on screen. Each performance was recorded as a personal video and shared by QR code. It brings the energy of an annual dinner karaoke session, with a clip to keep. See the Maybank Tiger Summit project.

Why it suits the theme: the booth gives shy guests a private place to perform, and gives confident ones something to post.
For a tech or sci-fi theme, an AI photo booth puts every guest into the story. At Microsoft's stand at Tec D Exchange 2025, our AI booth turned guests into one of four character styles, including anime and techwear, and printed the result within seconds.

Result: 746 prints over nine hours. See the Microsoft project, or read about our custom AI photo booth.
Plenty of Malaysian companies hold their annual dinner around Chinese New Year. A digital calligraphy booth suits an Oriental theme: guests pick a greeting, write it in digital ink with a stylus, and take home a premium 6R print. We ran this format for Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA's Chinese New Year campaign.

Result: 679 photos over 15 days. See the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA project.
Not every annual dinner fills a ballroom. For a smaller VIP night, a personalised keepsake works better than a big installation. At a Samsung watch party at S&W Restaurant in Suria KLCC, we built a custom app on the Galaxy Z Fold8: guests designed their own postcard on the phone, and it printed at A6 size to take home. See the Samsung Watch Party project.

Our enclosed Instabooth 2.0 starts from RM 5,800 per day. Custom formats such as the glass drawing booth, a digital garden or an AI character booth are quoted per brief, based on the build, the branding and the hours. See our photo booth rental options and corporate event solutions.
Themes that have worked at recent Malaysian corporate events include Havana nights (Maybank's "Viva La Cuba"), a disco-styled year-end party, Roaring Twenties, an enchanted garden, karaoke night, future tech, an Oriental or Lunar New Year dinner and a smaller VIP evening. Pick one that suits your venue and guests, then choose an activity that fits it.
Interactive booths give guests something to do between speeches: a photo booth that prints on the spot, a glass drawing booth that records a short video, a karaoke video booth, an AI character booth, or a shared digital wall where staff add messages. Each of these has run at a real Malaysian event listed above.
Annual dinner season in Malaysia runs from the end of the year into Chinese New Year, so popular dates go early. Enquire as soon as your date and venue are fixed, and allow extra time for a custom build.
Yes. Booth wraps, print frames, screen graphics and QR pages can all be designed for your event. The HAYS booth was wrapped in disco sequins, and Maybank's glass booth stood beside a "Viva La Cuba" backdrop.
